I love shopping. For food. Going to the weird little Asian food market down at the city centre always fills me with the glorious feeling of endless opportunities. Name an ingredient for a thai/chinese/japanese/korean dish, they’ve got it. Sauces, legumes, different kinds of rice, noodles, vegetables, fruit, frozen seafood…and snacks! Snacks that I’ve never seen or tasted before. I’m not a big snacker, but every once in a while I will buy a small bag of something that looks interesting at the Asian market and take it home with me. It’s so exciting, because you never know what you’ll get. This time I bought wasabi flavoured seaweed snacks. Quite healthy because of the high nutrional content of the seaweed, and VERY TASTY! The wasabi flavour was quite strong, which I happen to love, and the nori sheets were crispy with a nice after taste of sea weed and fish. Much better than any kind of potato chips!

Fredrik, my forever most favourite rat – all my 4 rats are my favourite, at the same time (it’s a mom thing) – has showed great promise in the “doing tricks for food” department. Of all the 4 boys Fredrik is the one who’s the most interested in food. He’ll eat almost anything, especially fruit and vegetables, and as I’ve recently discovered; he’ll do tricks if it earns him food. So far we’ve mastered the “circle around own axis 3 times for food” and “get up on hindlegs and take a few steps for food”. And he’s started to respond to his name a lot more too! “Freedriiik!” said with a high squeaky voice will now make him swagger over to me in 90 % of the times called (yes, he SWAGGERS!), opposed to maybe 50% of the times before. I feel we’ve bonded. Next I’ll teach him to fetch my slippers and play dead. Oh wait, he already knows how to play dead. He does it every time he passes out from a food induced coma in the fleece hammock I made for him and the other ratties. Because I looooove them soooooo.

Happy New Year guys and girls! Or dudes and dudettes, in the spirit of The Big Lebowski (wonderful movie; have you seen it ? Jeff Bridges, if you’re reading this; I think you’re hawt).

Apart from the annual promise to myself to exercise more (I still dream of being able to run a marathon), I’ve decided to post more regularly, even if I just manage to squeeze out a sentence or an impression. A funny thought, the last thing that made me laugh, rat stories, just stuff that make ME feel good. If any of the stories make you readers feel a tiny bit better about the world it’s a bonus.

Okay; feel good/funny/memorable stuff-of-the-day:

Mr T and I had F over for dinner; our neighbour and ex-study buddy (he has A JOB NOW!)  We make F pay for the groceries, I cook and Mr T is responsible for the entertainment – his humour always gets even more hilarious and dry than normal in the presence of F, we have at least a couple of laugh-till-tummy-hurts-moments when the three of us get together.

Anywhoo, we had just watched Pandorum; a sci-fi “lost in space” thriller gone zombie/alien cannibal horror movie. It reminded me of the Alien movies and Event Horizon. Not really my kind of movie. I got scared to death, yes, I DIED at least thirtyfour times, luckily Mr T knows CPR and managed to get me back to life all the times my heart stopped because one of the monsters SUDDENLY APPEARED BEHIND THE HOT SPACE SHIP CAPTAIN. Sooo, I tried to distract myself from the horrible things that were acting out on the flat screen by playing with the rats. I let Benny out of the cage and let him crawl around on F.

Me: “Have you noticed how Bennys testicles are kinda droopy?”

F: *laughs*

Me: “I like to touch my rats balls, they’re so nice and soft. You should try!”

F: Laughs again, and strokes Bennys stash carefully. “Why yes, they are soft!”

Then I gave Benny a crust of a cinnamon bun so he wouldn’t feel easy.

Haha, I hope somebody finds this blog because he/she googled testicles.
